A 77-year-old Harrison woman died Tuesday afternoon after she fell through the ice on Lake Coeur d'Alene. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says Leslie G. Daniels fell through the ice after someone spotted seeing her go onto the ice and possibly rescue a dog or other animal that also fell through the ice. Witnesses in the Harlow Point area tried to help Daniels with rope and a canoe but were initially unsuccessful. A dive team found Daniels unconscious and crews were unable to revive her. Deputies say people should never go onto the ice to rescue an animal as there's a good chance they too could fall through.
