VIDEO: The Goose Fire in the Foothills this week scorched hundreds of acres -- impacting popular trails.
"When you get a fire in the foothills, quite honestly most of the problem when it comes to trails is related to the fire fighting efforts," said David Gordon, Ridge to Rivers program manager.
Gordon says firefighters need to get up and around the trails to fight the fires -- which can leave track marks and impact vegetation in the area.
"The Goose Fire, in particular, had a lot of fencing that was burned, so we will have to go back in and fix those fences," Gordon said. He recommends hikers do their part to help the area recover.
