On Nov. 4, more than 60 area responders attended a hazardous materials awareness class at Prairie High School. The class was hosted by Cottonwood fire and police departments, and sponsored by Idaho County Emergency Manager Jerry Zumalt and the Idaho County Local Emergency Planning Committee.
“This is the first time the Idaho Office of Emergency Management [IOEM] has put on this class,” said Cottonwood Police Chief Terry Cochran in a prepared release. “Having IOEM, as well as State Communications as part of the basic Hazmat Awareness class, provided exceptional knowledge on what the laws state, as well as the procedures to take and resources available from the state agencies.”
