PHOTO: Just past 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Kooskia Emergency Services Fire and EMS, along with several other local agencies, were dispatched to structure fire on Highway 13 near Harpster, in Idaho County.
According to Kooskia Emergency Services, upon arrival, crews found that the only access to the structure was over a suspension bridge that could not support the weight of the responding apparatus.
Equipment was transported by UTV across the bridge and crews were able to draw from the South Fork of the Clearwater River using portable pumps and hand tools to keep the fire from spreading through the grass and foliage to other out buildings.
Crews remained on scene overnight attempting to manage the scene and prevent the fire from spreading.
