According to Acting Fire Chief for the Pierce Volunteer Fire Department, Matthew Hagele, a mobile home with an addition located in Pierce was a total loss in a fire that occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Monday, March 25. The home was fully engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived. Chief Hagele reported they were unable to save the residence, but the occupants got out safely. He also reported there were no firefighters injured fighting the fire. Five Pierce Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire and were assisted by the Weippe Rural Fire District. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical.
