An electrical failure of a relocatable power tab block has been determined to be the cause of a house fire on April 27 that has claimed the lives of an Emmett couple. Diana Bade perished in the fire on April 27 and her husband Bill Bade succumbed on May 1 to injuries received in the blaze. He had been transported to a burn center in Salt Lake but was returned to Emmett prior to his death. Two juvenile grandchildren escaped from the fire without injury. Idaho State Fire Marshall Knute Sandahl reported that the blaze ignited with a circuit overload in a “”6 plug block that has been attached to an extension cord. The blocks are not intended to be used with extension cords as they pull too many amps for what the block is capable of sustaining.”
