The 94th Annual Wachusett District Firefighters Muster will be hosted by the Princeton Fire Department on the Town Common June 15 beginning at noon. The muster pits firefighting teams from eight towns – Princeton, Holden, Rutland, Sterling, West Boylston, Boylston, Harvard and Bolton – in an old-time competition that lasts several hours and features vintage equipment. The “star” of the Princeton team is a circa 1939 pumper that began its vehicular life as either a bread or milk truck. “The origins are still being debated,” said Steve Giaimo, president of the Princeton Firefighters and EMT Association. “Anyway, it crashed in town and the town bought it and converted it. It was a way of saving money.”
