PHOTOS: Jeremiah M. Lucey III lifted the sleeve of his shirt and revealed a tattoo on his left arm. There were images of the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Co. fire and a portrait of his dad, Jeremiah M. Lucey, who was one of six firefighters who died battling a blaze in that building on Dec. 3, 1999. Lucey carries another memory with him. On his right wrist is a red metal bracelet. “FF Christopher Roy. WFD Ladder 4. Last alarm 12/09/18, Box 5-49.” “I pretty much haven’t taken it off,” Lucey said, as he looked at the bracelet. Roy died fighting a fire at 5-7 Lowell St. on Dec. 9, 2018. As firefighters worked to defeat the flames inside, some became trapped on the second floor. Roy was one, Lucey was the other. “I was with Chris that night,” Lucey said recently inside the Franklin Street Fire Station. “I was the other firefighter that was lost.”
