VIDEO: A firefighter and a resident emerged from a flame-damaged home Tuesday to a round of spontaneous applause. Rose Lopez was wearing a hardhat when she and the firefighter ventured inside the damaged multifamily building in Salem to look for her missing Chihuahua. "Precious is my life, besides my kids, of course," said a tearful Lopez. The building at Cromwell and Bridge Streets in Salem was damaged by a two-alarm fire Tuesday morning. Lopez, who has lived in the home for more than three years, said she was napping when the fire began. She said she woke up when someone knocked on the door.
