Patrick Egloff is now the city’s permanent fire chief following a unanimous vote of the three-person Westfield Fire Commission on Monday. Previously a deputy chief, Egloff was named temporary chief Jan. 19. He was the only applicant on the state civil service list eligible for the permanent position, according to the city. In response to questions from the commissioners Monday, Egloff promised to improve morale in the Fire Department, which includes approximately 90 firefighters. "Morale will come up in this department if I am promoted to permanent chief," Egloff told Chairman Albert Masciadrelli and commissioners C. Lee Bennett and Jeffrey Siegel.
“It is very important to move morale up,” Egloff said.
