A dozen people were taken to the hospital Thursday after a carbon monoxide incident at a Franklin shopping plaza. The incident was reported at Cedar Cleaners just after 10 a.m. the Franklin Village Mall, which is located at the interchange of Interstate 495 and Route 140. Franklin Fire Chief James McLaughlin said a gas furnace at the laundromat was the source, and the carbon monoxide readings were 300 ppm, which is dangerous. The people who were taken to the hospital complained of headaches and nausea. Ambulances from Medway, Millis, Walpole, Wrentham, Plainville, Hopkinton and North Attleboro responded to the plaza to assist Franklin crews.
