After nearly 45 years under the guidance of Fire Chief Kevin Roy, the Fitchburg Fire Department will now officially be under the leadership of Deputy Chief Anthony Marrama. While Marrama has been working as the acting chief since July 1, the City Council voted unanimously to ratify his appointment to the chief's position on Tuesday. "I am optimistic as fire chief he will have the chance to develop a proven track record of leadership and he will capitalize on the opportunity to give back to our community," Mayor Stephen DiNatale said. Marrama, a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, said he was honored to be selected for the position. "I cannot understate what an incredible honor and privilege it is to be nominated to lead the men and women of the Fitchburg Fire Department," Marrama said. "The opportunity to lead these individuals is, to me, a dream realized."
