VIDEO: Fire caused significant damage to a home in Lowell on Thursday afternoon.
The fire at 15 Foster St. was first reported around 2 p.m. Over the next hour, while Sky5 flew overhead, the smoke intensified and flames burst through the roof.
Several people were inside the building when the fire began and neighbors said they heard the occupants yelling to warn each other to get out. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
At first, firefighters were seen using ladders to reach the roof and porches on the upper level of the home. As the flames intensified, they appeared to pull back for safety. Firefighters struck three alarms to call for additional reinforcements as they worked. By 4 p.m., firefighters were able to go inside to inspect the damage.
