Arlington Fire Chief Kevin Kelley reports that there were no injuries to firefighters, civilians, or animals at the two-alarm fire at 663 Mass. Ave. that occurred yesterday, April 29th. Smoke traveled quickly through the ductwork of the building and much of the work by firefighters was searching for extension, opening up concealed spaces to see if the fire has extended to other parts of the building. The operation closed Mass. Ave. for most of the morning. “I want to commend the women and men of the Arlington Fire Department for their swift response in suppressing the fire to minimize damage,” said Kevin Kelley, Arlington’s Fire Chief. “I’m appreciative of the assistance we received from Arlington Police, Armstrong Ambulance, Pro Ambulance, and our neighboring Fire Departments from Cambridge, Medford, Winchester, and Belmont.”
