A child suffered burn injuries in Oxford Monday in a fire at a home day care, according to Oxford fire officials.
Oxford Fire Chief Laurent McDonald told WCVB that the boy, who was estimated to be about 2 years old, is a client of the Watch Street day care.
McDonald said when fire crews arrived, they found light smoke in the home, and the child was in front of a playpen on the floor in a bedroom.
"There was still some smoldering in the bedroom. One of the occupants had taken a bucket of water and thrown it on the fire which helped knock it down, and then our crews on scene were able to extinguish it rather quickly," McDonald said.
There were two adults and three kids in the home at the time of the incident.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s office, state police and the state Fire Marshal are involved in the investigation.
