6,419 new COVID-19 cases, 99 additional deaths reported in the State

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported an additional 6,419 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 386,052 since the start of the pandemic. State health officials also reported 99 new confirmed COVID-19-related deaths to the state's total, which is now 12,563. An estimated 79,967 cases are active across Massachusetts, according to the report. The report said 2,416 patients with confirmed coronavirus cases were hospitalized in Massachusetts, of which 442 were reported to be in an intensive care unit. In the state's weekly report released on Thursday, 190 communities were in the "Red," or at high risk of COVID-19, up from 188 communities last week. The latest weekly public health report also indicated that 261,672 people have now recovered from the virus.
