VIDEO: Firefighters battled both the flames and the heat of the day as they responded to a fire inside a Wakefield, Massachusetts home. Nearly 10 local companies responded to the four-alarm fire late Friday morning on Eastern Avenue to provide relief to fire crews.
Fire officials say the fire appears to have started at the top of the house near the attic.
From Sky5, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the home. Firefighters in ladder trucks were dousing the flames with water from above.
"Stubborn, stubborn fire, obviously very hot," deputy chief Thomas Purcell with the Wakefield fire department said. Officials say one firefighter was taken to the hospital with heat related injuries.
People were home when the fire started, but everyone made it out safely.
The home is considered a total loss at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
