A tornado-ravaged community in Kentucky is one step closer to some sense of normalcy — thanks to two Bay State communities.
A donated 3,000-gallon tanker firetruck is on its way from Rochester, Massachusetts, to Cayce, Kentucky.
In early December, an EF 4 tornado destroyed most of the small western Kentucky community, including its volunteer fire department and all of its firefighting apparatus.
“Couldn’t imagine coming to work and seeing that. That’s beyond belief,” Jim Wiksten said.
Retired after 32 years serving on the Middleborough Fire Department, Wiksten will be behind the wheel of a RYCO Excavating Co. flatbed truck being used to deliver the tanker.
His reasoning for wanting to make the special delivery was pretty simple.
