VIDEO: A large fire broke out on the Fourth of July at a home in Somerville, Massachusetts, leaving one firefighter injured.
Crews from several nearby fire departments, including Cambridge and Medford, were called to help the Somerville Fire Department battle the flames Monday evening at 1241 Broadway Street.
Somerville Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Major said one of the department's firefighters suffered minor injuries, but everyone who was inside the home near the corner of Broadway and Russell streets in Teele Square made it out safely.
Those inside heard smoke detectors going off, alerting them there was a fire, and they were able to get out on their own, Major added. One cat was rescued from the second floor.
Video from the scene showed the second floor of the home fully engulfed by flames, with fire and smoke shooting out of the windows into the sky.
