VIDEO: Sixteen new firefighters graduated from the Firefighter Training Academy in Springfield on Friday. State Fire Marshal Jon Davine and Firefighting Academy Director Eric Littmann presented certificates to the new graduates. Class #S36 will go on to join firefighting forces across western Mass. in towns from Agawam, Easthampton, Greenfield, Longmeadow, Southbridge, Springfield, Turners Falls, Ware, and Westfield.
The ceremony was held at 11 a.m. Firefighter Zachary Giordano of Springfield Fire & Emergency Services was awarded the Richard N. Bangs Outstanding Student Award. “Massachusetts firefighters are on the frontlines protecting their communities every day, and today’s graduates are needed now more than ever,” said State Fire Marshal Davine.
