VIDEO: A group of Occupational Therapy students from Western New England University visited the West Springfield Fire Department Thursday, kicking off a new partnership. Whenever the Fire Department is called to a fire, it’s usually a very difficult situation for whoever is being affected. Now, with the help of these students, the fire department might be able to make these situations a little more manageable.
“We are creating a sensory inclusive environment for individuals who are experiencing crisis to be best supported by the Fire Department here,” said Ella Grace Brunton, a WNEU student.
The students brought ‘BEary Calm’ bags, which the Fire Department will now have in every single ambulance when responding to a crisis.
