Two city of Detroit employees were hurt on Wednesday when firecrackers exploded while they sat down on toilet seats. According to the fire department, it happened at the fire department's repair shop.
According a fire department spokesperson, one employee drove himself to the hospital while the other employee did not need medical treatment. Their exact injuries are not known.
A spokesperson for the Detroit Fire Union said no fire department or EMS workers were injured, but said, "an incident like this is beyond explanation."
The repair shop is located on Erskine near Eastern Market. According to the city of Detroit, the incident is under investigation and the Detroit Police Department is working to find the person responsible.
