The Novi Fire Department has promoted John Martin to the long-vacant position of assistant fire chief.
For the past 10 years, the position has remained vacant due to the re-organization of the public safety executive team.
David Molloy, director of public safety and chief of police, said he's confident that Martin will take the fire department "to all new levels of excellence and achievement." "John is a proven leader and is respected by those he serves with and our community partners,” he said.“Fire Chief Jeff Johnson and I look forward to working with him as we enhance our public safety programs throughout the community.”
In 1997, Martin began his fire service career with the Macomb Township Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and training coordinator until 2006.
