Students at two Macomb Township schools will show their appreciation for the work police and firefighters do daily on the day in which their services were the most needed by the entire nation in 2001: 9/11.
St. Peter Lutheran School and Lutheran High School North have annually participated in a Patriot Walk for 10 years. The walk, hosted on Sept. 11, is meant to reflect on the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and to show support for firefighters, police and all those that sacrifice for U.S. freedom.
The event will begin at about 8:20 a.m. with opening ceremonies at Lutheran High School North’s (LHN) football field. The school is located on 24 Mile Road west of Romeo Plank Road, next door to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School. Between the two schools approximately 910 students will be in the field’s bleachers according to Anita Glaser, St. Peter’s booster coordinator and LHN Mustang spirit club chair.
