Nine communities in southeast Michigan have recently received grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.
U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters announced the grants late last week, including two that would go to fire departments in Oakland County.
"Our firefighters in southeast Michigan put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and communities," Stabenow said. "These new resources will provide critical training and give our first responders the equipment they need to better serve the public and do their jobs safely and effectively.”
In Oakland County, the North Oakland County Fire Authority will be receiving a $90,476 grant. The city of Birmingham will see $180,680 for its fire department.
