A Farmington Hills collision shop fire that slowed traffic during the Wednesday morning commute appears to have been accidental, according to fire officials. "During our investigation, it was noted that the damage to the structure could have been far worse," Fire Marshal Jason Baloga wrote in an email. "Since many of the interior doors were closed the fire was not able to spread to the rest of the building." He emphasized that closing doors and having working smoke alarms can make a huge difference. Firefighters were called around 8 a.m. to 8 Mile Collision and Fiberglass, 32440 Eight Mile, on the report of a fire. Crews arrived to the shop between Orchard Lake and Farmington roads and discovered heavy black smoke within the structure.
