Two people escaped a mobile home fire without injuries early Tuesday in Ionia, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety.
At 6:45 a.m. July 7, the Ionia Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a mobile home fire at Sherwood Forest, 113 Yeomans St., in Ionia.
When DPS firefighters arrived, the east side of the home was consumed with heavy fire and smoke, according to the department. Firefighters initiated fire suppression with an interior attack, while a ventilation crew opened up the roof.
The fire was brought under control, and hot spots were put out during salvage and overhaul operations.
The home suffered substantial damage, per the department. Both occupants escaped the fire without any injuries, according to Ionia DPS.
