Portage firefighters extinguished a blaze in the kitchen of a home, according to a news release from the Portage Department of Public Safety.
About 1 p.m. on June 25, the Portage Department of Public Safety’s Fire Division responded to the residential structure fire in the 8600 block of Oakside Street in Portage.
Arriving crews discovered a two-story residential structure with smoke coming from the front door. All the residents were outside the structure and once it was confirmed no one else was inside, crews made entry into the home and found a fire in the kitchen. The fire was quickly extinguished and the smoke was ventilated, the news release states. Pride Care and Consumers Energy assisted on the scene. Comstock, Texas and Oshtemo Townships provided station coverage during the incident.
