Battle Creek activated the Emergency Operations Center Tuesday morning trying to anticipate future responses to the coronavirus, Battle Creek Police Chief Jim Blocker said.
"It's a place to synchronize information and operations," Blocker said. "We want to share the information and get it out."..Blocker said the group included representatives from the Calhoun County Health Department, the police and fire departments, emergency services, Senior Services, the hospitals, Summit Pointe, various social service agencies, city staff and the Battle Creek Community Foundation.
He said the operations center will likely draw others from across county as officials meet to continue to respond to the threat of the virus.
But as officials consider the worst, and with information changing by the hour, Blocker and others said Tuesday that it's not all bad.
