The Quincy Fire Department has taken delivery of a 2007 ladder truck which will soon be replacing a 46 year old Mack tower ladder. The fire department got the newer ladder truck over the Labor Day holiday weekend after getting permission from the Village Council in June to buy it. Fire Chief Mike Sherman said at the time it would replace the 1975 ladder truck that had a number of safety issues including significant hydraulic leaks in the aerial device. The newer ladder truck carries several different ground ladders, has 450 gallons of water on board, can pump over 1,500 gallons per minute and will be equipped with a couple thousand feet of hose lines and various rescue equipment. Quincy fire crews are laddering different buildings around the village during the next few weeks as they learn how capable the truck is.
