The Algonac City Council unanimously approved the purchase of a new fire truck, as well as a few other items, at its July 20 meeting.
The council approved the purchase of a Silver Fox-HME fire engine, including the deck gun assembly extension, from Kodiak Emergency Vehicles in the total amount of $446,697.
“This firetruck was budgeted for our fiscal year 2021-2022,” Mayor Terry Stoneburner said.
The vehicle being replaced, Fire Engine #1, is a 1992 Ford Grumman Pumper and has served Algonac for over 29 years, she said. The average lifespan of a fire pumper is 12 to 15 years.
