Early Monday morning Madison Heights firefighters quickly got ready to respond to a 911, but as they prepared to leave the station they noticed someone missing -- Capt. Jeff Brozich.
“He never came out of the fire hall,” said Madison Heights Fire Marshal Paul Biliti. “So, they went inside and found him deceased.” Brozich, 57, of Macomb Township died of natural causes from a heart attack, according to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s offices.
A 20-year veteran of the fire department, Brozich was well liked and his sudden death shocked his colleagues, friends and family.
“He was a very genuine good guy,” Biliti said. “He was the kind of guy you want your sons to grow up to be. Our families were close and I loved him like a brother.” More than 100 people and other fire departments commented on the Madison Firefighters’ post about Brozich’s passing.
“It’s been devastating for all of us throughout the Madison Heights community,” Biliti said.
Brozich was one of three unit commanders in the city’s fire department
