A pilot escaped injury after landing his small plane in a farm field near Fowlerville Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The incident involving a single-engine plane occurred around 3:45 p.m. in a field near Layton and Fowlerville roads, Michigan State Police tweeted.
"A 33-year-old pilot was able to make an emergency landing in a field in Handy Twp, ... near Layton and Fowlerville Rd.," MSP tweeted.
Police said the pilot experienced engine problems. The Federal Aviation Administration was en route to the scene as of 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
The plane initially was reported to have gone down in Howell Township but was found west of that area, Fowlerville Firefighters said in a Facebook posting.
