The Clare Fire Department is reminding drivers to pay attention and slow down when they see emergency vehicles on the side of the road. One of the department’s fire trucks was hit from behind over the weekend because of a distracted driver. “Our truck was parked on the side of the freeway as a blocker for an accident that had occurred some distance in front,” said Lt. Claire Kaisler. “It was placed to protect our main truck and firefighters that were working on that accident, and there was a vehicle that apparently lost control and hit the back of our truck.” Lt. Kaisler said something like this happening is more common than you think.
