The city of Grand Rapids held an event Wednesday evening allowing community members to meet the finalists for the city’s next fire chief.
The two finalists are Chief Eloy Vega from Port Neches, Texas and Dr. Brad Brown, the deputy chief of support services for the Grand Rapids Fire Department. "If the desire of the community is to remain progressive and to remain as one of the premier departments in the nation, if that's the desire, that's the will. I want to reassure the community that I have the skills and knowledge and experience to do that to grow not only with the organization but to grow professionally and individually and to be integral with the community as well," Vega told FOX 17 before Wednesday's event. "So if the interest is growth, improvement and being the best and continuing the tradition of excellence, I'm the guy."
