PHOTO: An Isabella County Trial Court employee was among three men sworn in as paid on-call firefighters for the city of Mt. Pleasant Monday night, adding manpower to a department that’s been struggling to get recruits. Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant Assistant Police Chief Brandon Bliss swore in the city’s newest police officer. Mt. Pleasant Fire Chief Doug Lobsinger swore in Andy Foster, a former Isabella County court bailiff and Millbrook-Rolland firefighter; and Jordan VanAvery and Eli Walker during the city commission’s regular meeting. Foster, who is now the court’s community corrections coordinator, is already trained; Walker and VanAvery are cadets who will go through firefighters training programs, Lobsinger said. Mt. Pleasant’s fire department now has 11 full-time firefighters and 13 paid on-call firefighters.
