Jackson County is releasing a new mass notification system to replace CodeRed.
The new system, Genasys Protect ALERT, will go live on April 13, 2024. City of Jackson residents will still get general messages from CodeRed, but all emergency alerts will be from Genasys.
The Jackson County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security urges all residents to sign up for the alerts on the county’s website. The department said those who already signed up for CodeRed will need to take a few minutes to sign up for the new alert system.
People who register can choose the types of alerts and how to receive them—including landline phone, cell phone, text/SMS message and email.
The department said the information in the system is for communicating emergency and official county information only—Genasys or Jackson County will not share or sell information.
