No injuries after fire destroys garage, damages home in Grandville

VIDEO: Firefighters have knocked down a fire at a home in Grandville early Friday morning, but not before it destroyed a garage and badly damaged the home. The fire started after 2 a.m. Friday at a home in the 4400 block of Lucas Drive SW in Grandville, not far from Canal Avenue. We spoke with Kent County Central Dispatch just after 3:45 a.m. They tell us the homeowner was able to get everyone out of the home and there have been no reports of any injuries. Grandville firefighters on scene added that a total of four people and three pets were in the home at the time of the fire, but all were able to get out safely. A crew at the scene reports the attached garage appears to be destroyed, while the home is severely damaged. There also appears to be damage to multiple vehicles parked in the nearby driveway.
