Three people were rescued from a state game area Wednesday morning with the assistance of a drone and a geolocation application. Ingham County Sheriff officials say they responded to the area of 7 Gables Rd. and Dexter Trail in Ingham Township about 5:45 a.m. Wednesday when three individuals called for assistance. They told emergency dispatchers they were not from the area. They’d become lost, were wet and struggling with the cold weather. Using a geolocation application called What3Words, dispatch was able to identify exactly where the trio were located. The application divides the entire world into three meter square areas, each with a unique three word name. Dansville Fire Department was called to the scene, but were unable to locate the three individuals due to the swampy terrain.
