Lt. Erik Evans was selected as a “standout” among four other candidates for the annual recognition, Fire Chief David Bostater said at Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting.
In introducing Evans, the chief described him as the “epitome of a leader.”
“He led by example, embraced his new role as a lieutenant, and has had a positive impact on not only his crew but also in the Fire Department Training Division,” Bostater said. “He is tireless and inspiring, in regard to his work ethic and next-level professionalism that he displays on the daily basis.”
Evans thanked his family and fellow firefighters for their support, and said he’s had a lot of “ups and downs” in his personal life in recent months that made receiving the award a special moment for him.
