PHOTO: On February 6, 2007, a Mercy Flight crashed north of Belgrade while on its way to Bozeman to pick up a patient, killing the three crew members on board. Darcy Dengel, a flight nurse, Vince Kirol, a pilot and Paul Erickson, a flight paramedic, a firefighter with Great Falls Fire Rescue and a member of the Great Falls Police Department High-Risk Unit were the crew on board that day. Benefits Health System shared to their Facebook saying their legacy continues with every Mercy Flight mission. The Great Falls Police Department said the GFPD Honor Guard was founded in memory of the local heroes, and they honor their legacy with the Guard motto, “Dedication, Vision, Precision”.
