Despite schools across the state being closed, Great Falls Public Schools opened 14 elementary schools across town on Tuesday to offer limited child care services for first responders and other medical professionals. Children of first responders, including law enforcement, emergency medical services, firefighters, medical staff and those working at long-term care facilities, that are under the age of 12 are eligible for the service. Children with parents in the military are welcome with proper identification and a letter from their Commander. "It's a big deal, it really shows the community support and how we all have to work together to make this town actually function," said Ty Moore, the principal of Sunnyside Elementary, one of the sites where child care services are being offered. "If our first responders can't do their job, because they are taking care of their kids, that opens up a totally different avenue that we can't control."
