Local fire crews extinguished a wildland fire in the area north of 1500 Spurlock Road in Missoula late Saturday afternoon.
The Missoula Rural Fire Department, along with Missoula Fire Department and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation responded to several reports of a wildland fire "in the north hills above the Republic Services landfill," according to Missoula Rural Fire District.
As there was no clear fire location, homeowners gave fire crews permission to use access points to get to the fire.
On scene, fire crews found a fire spreading in "light flashy fuels" and were able to control it in around 40 minutes, with the fire fully extinguished in over two hours.
Officials say over eight acres burned, with no structures damaged or threatened. No injuries were reported as well.
