VIDEO: The Billings Fire Department hosted their second fire station tour of the year on Thursday for elementary kids to teach them about fire safety and prevention
The fire department is hosting seven station tours throughout 2024 to help kids become more acquainted with seeing firefighters on the job and less afraid of interacting with first responders.
Paul Ferguson, who has been a Billings Fire Department Engineer for the last 10 years, said that making sure kids can recognize firefighters helps them feel safe during an emergency. “You know, most kids they get scared and it's important for the kids to come to the station and talk to firemen before they put all their gear on to get comfortable with the person that's actually underneath all that stuff, so they know it's a safe environment,” explained Ferguson.
