Mills River Volunteer Fire and Rescue recently received an improved fire rating from the Office of State Fire Marshal, which should result in lower insurance premiums for those who live in the district.
N.C. Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey announced this month that Mills River Fire Department completed its routine inspection and received an improved Class 3 districtwide rating, which will take effect Nov 1.
The inspection, conducted by officials with the Department of Insurance Office of State Fire Marshal, is required on a regular basis as part of the N.C. Response Rating System.
