On Monday, Jan. 7, N.C. state representatives joined the Caswell County Commissioners in honoring all 10 volunteer fire departments in Caswell County for passing their latest ISO inspections, significantly improving their scores and potentially reducing the insurance rates of all Caswell County residents.
According to Senior Deputy Commissioner of North Carolina Insurance, Chief State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor, statewide insurance ratings inspections started in the mid-2000s for all populated areas in North Carolina of 100,000 members or less and the practice has applied positive pressure to fire departments across the state to improve and revolutionize their practices.
Taylor said cooperating with other departments including 9-1-1 communications, utilities, and water is essential to improving scores.
