Officials said a smell from roof construction caused dozens of people to get sick Thursday at a business park in southwest Charlotte. Now, people are being evacuated for the second day in a row, because more people more are falling sick. Medic said they evaluated nine people and transported two Friday morning. Firefighters said they responded Thursday to the building around 11 a.m. for a medical call and started getting reports of more patients. That's when they called in a hazmat team and evacuated the building. The Charlotte Fire Department said it appears construction crews were laying tar on the roof and the smell was pulled through the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
