Contractor Hits Live Wire During Demolition, Sparking Fire Near CPCC Campus In Uptown Charlotte

Officials say an electrical mishap during demolition sparked a fire this morning at Memorial Stadium near the CPCC campus in Uptown Charlotte. According to Charlotte Fire, it took 26 firefighters 18 minutes to control the incident. The fire was declared under control at 9:15 a.m. During demolition of the old 20' x 40' press box, officials say a contractor hit a live electrical wire which sparked the blaze. No injuries have been reported.
