A Harlowe home was destroyed by fire late Tuesday.
The resident, Jay Lawson, was not at his home at 920 Temples Point Road when the fire was called in at 11:18 p.m. According to a spokesman for the Harlowe Fire Department, the home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters were assisted at the scene by fire departments from Mill Creek, Cherry Point, Havelock and Township 6.
Harlowe VFD was called out again Wednesday morning because the fire was still smoldering.
The cause is under investigation, according to assistant Craven County EMS Director Ira Whitford.
