A family is without a home after an early morning fire just north of uptown Charlotte. Firefighters responded to Norris Avenue, between North Graham Street and North Tryon Street, around 6:30 a.m. They found downed power lines and reported flames and heavy smoke coming from a house. Officials said nobody was hurt. Channel 9 crews could see flames coming from the attic area of the home and dozens of firefighters both in the house and on the roof. Power lines were also down across the road, which was blocked while crews worked to put out the fire. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control before 7 a.m.
